Why not start the new year with yet another great service update?
We are happy to introduce Desktop.com chat, video calls and meetings, restructured plans and an updated website. These new tools will be able to make working in Desktop.com even easier than before, and give you a more seamless connection with other users.
In our previous newsletter, we announced some massive feature additions. If you missed that one, you can check it out here. Now let’s take a look at what this month’s updates have to offer in more detail.
We are excited to announce that we have added a suite of new communication tools to the Desktop.com experience: Chat, Voice Calls & Video Conferencing. You’re now able to instantly communicate with others via chat, voice or video, right in the context of your workspace and any relevant project.
With our one-on-one video feature, you can now enjoy crisp, full HD audio and video calls with any of your contacts.
Users who are on our free plan now have the capabilities of getting on video conferences with up to 5 participants. Users on our Pro plan can have video conferences of up to 25 members, all in full HD quality.
Chat one-on-one with your contacts or create a group chat with any team members, or create a group from a specific desktop. The chat feature is currently in beta, and will be updated with more features for the next release, so keep an eye out.
We have introduced the ‘People’ pane which is a feature that allows you to keep track of your contacts, workspace members and guests, as well as their current online status.
Our new state-of-the-art video call and conferencing tools will allow you to communicate with your contacts or groups across any type of device without installing anything. Video calls and meetings support industry standard features, such as in-app chat, screen sharing and moderator rights. Be sure to check it out!
This latest release also includes global search, a feature that allows you to search across all apps, links and chats that you can access in your workspace. We’ve also added multi-factor authentication for the free accounts, layout options for app display, updated mobile interface as well as several minor fixes and improvements to the overall visual look.
We are restructuring the available Desktop.com plans to better align with the added functionality of the service. This means that we will go from the previous structure of Free, Personal Premium, Teams and Enterprise into the more intuitive Free, Pro and Enterprise. This way we can fit more into each plan, and create a clearer path for users that wish to upgrade.
Because of this, Personal Premium plans owners have now been turned into Pro plans. If you were on the Personal Premium plan, you should have received a separate email with information regarding this change. If you did not, you can contact us here to learn more about the change.
We have also updated the website to better reflect our position as a unifying central collaboration hub that allows you to keep all your teams, tools and communication in one place.
